NewYear’s
Resolution QUIT SMOKING?- GREAT! Here’s more reasons
why you should, and why you should stick to it. 20 minutes after
you quit your heart rate and blood pressure will drop. 12 hours
later carbon monoxide levels in your blood fall to normal. 2 weeks
after that last butt your circulation and lung functions improve.
Did I mention your teeth may start losing that yellow tint (you
should go to the dentist and get a cleaning) 9 months after your
last puff, coughing and shortness of breath are reduced. (Mmmmm
you can breathe again, not waking up 3 times a night.) Just 1 year
after quitting your risk of coronary heart disease is reduced to
half of what it was when you smoked. Smokers are at risk for 15
types of cancer including, stomach, lung, bladder, kidney, cervix,
and more. After 5-15 years smoke-free your risk of getting these
cancers decrease significantly. Finally a few last thoughts…400,000
people die as a result of smoking each year. You don’t have
to be one of them! Cigarette butts take about 25 years to decompose
(do your part to help the environment). 1 out of 5 deaths are smoking
related. (Have you ever witnessed one, it’s not pretty to
see, imagine going through it yourself.) The cost, what are you
paying for a pack, think of all that money alone, did you know it
only costs 5 cents to produce a pack of smokes? Last but not least
every 10 seconds somewhere in the world, someone dies from tobacco!
It kills more Americans than alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroin, murder,
suicide, car accidents, fires, and AIDS combined. What makes you
think it can’t kill you?
